Follow Instructions

Post-Tattoo Aftercare

After your tattoo is complete, proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing. It will be covered with a "second skin" dressing designed to stay in place for several days. The duration varies depending on the tattoo’s size and placement, typically between 2-3 days and 4-5 days. During this time, it’s normal to notice fluid accumulating beneath the dressing—a mixture of plasma, ink, and blood. This is a natural part of the healing process and not a reason to remove the second skin prematurely. For the best results, keep the covering intact until the recommended removal day.

Healing Process

When it’s time to remove the wrap, start by thoroughly washing your hands, then gently peel back the covering. Clean the tattooed area with warm water and fragrance-free soap, rinsing it carefully before lightly patting it dry. After a few minutes, apply the recommended ointment or lotion to keep the skin hydrated. Redness, soreness, and warmth are normal during the initial stages, and adhering to these steps will help ensure a smooth healing process.

For the first two weeks, wash your tattoo gently and allow it to air-dry after each cleaning. Wear clean, soft clothing to reduce irritation and avoid strenuous activities, especially if the tattoo is in a high-movement or folded area. During this period, some light scabbing may appear, which is a natural part of the healing process. Refrain from picking, scratching, or rubbing the tattoo to prevent ink loss and scarring, allowing the scabs to fall away naturally without exfoliation.

Continue applying the recommended ointment daily and monitor your tattoo as it heals. By the end of the two weeks, the scabs should be gone, and your tattoo should be fully healed.

Long Term Aftercare

Taking care of your tattoo over time is important to keep it looking vibrant and detailed. Protect your tattoo from direct sunlight, as UV exposure can cause fading over time. Avoid extended time in the sun and always apply a high-quality sunscreen to the tattooed area, even after it has healed. Regularly using a fragrance-free, nourishing lotion will keep the skin hydrated, helping to maintain the clarity and richness of your tattoo for years to come.
